Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody among the contenders for being India’s next Coach

Former Indian Cricketer Virender Sehwag is also become the one of the names to be contesting for the job of Head Coach of Indian National Cricket Team after Anil Kumble contract ends at the end of Champions Trophy 2017. While Kumble is also in the hunt, Tom Moody and Richard Pybus are other candidates who have applied for the job. The locals include Lalchand Rajput and Dodda Ganesh who have applied for the post as well.

Sehwag does not hold coaching experience as he has served the role of a mentor for Kings XI Punjab but top officials in the BCCI requested him to apply for the given post. BCCI has already invited applications from all cricketing quarters to select the next Indian Cricket Team Head Coach.

The chances of him being selected look slim as Anil Kumble has done a tremendous job as the Head Coach for Indian Team and would merit an extension in his contract due to India’ s superlative performances in the last one year. BCCI officials clearly stated that they will undergo detailed deliberations in selecting and finalizing the next coach for Indian Cricket Team as the length of contract will be till the end of 2019 Cricket World Cup. He also said that the Cricket Board does not want a situation where players are miffed with coach on any issue.
