Trevor Bayliss Appointed Head Coach of Kolkata Knight Riders for next year’s Indian Premier League
|Head Coach Trevor Bayliss will not continue his role with England after he helped the side win their maiden Cricket World Cup. He is rumored to take the role of Head coach for Kolkata Knight Riders in the coming season of Indian Premier League.
Trevor Bayliss was instrumental in helping England turn their fortunes around after 2015 Cricket World Cup debacle. He will be joined by Former New Zealand opener Brendon McCullum, who is all set to take up the role of batting coach for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Last year, Kolkata Knight Rider failed to qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League. The new changes in the coaching staff are expected to bring a new fresh to the Kolkata Knight Riders strategy for the coming season.
In the inaugural Indian Premier League, Swashbuckling opener Brendon McCullum produced a blistering 158 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008. It was Trevor Bayliss’s tenure that Kolkata Knight Riders won the Indian Premier League on two occasions (2011 and 2014).
Former South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis and Former Australian opener Simon Katich decided not to take continue their contract with Kolkata Knight Rider. Both the players share a long association with the franchise with regards to Indian Premier League.
Kolkata Knight Rider Team owner, Shah Rukh Khan said that has been involved in all these changes made in the team management for the coming season. The franchise will be looking to Mumbai Indians template and ensure that they can lift coveted trophy in the coming season.
After a tremendous World Cup campaign, Travis Bayliss last assignment with England is the coming 2019 Ashes series that is slated to begin from 1st August. Bayliss will be keen to help England win the Ashes series on home soil and regain the Urn. He is expected to join Kolkata Knight Riders once the five-match Test series between England and Australia is concluded.
