Bangladesh have announced their Test squad for the opening game of the Test series against Pakistan that will be played in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 7th till 11th February. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan was not picked due to a finger injury. Mustafizur Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain and Imrul Kayes have failed to retain their place in the Test squad. On the other hand, pacer Rubel Hossain has earned a recall to the side for this series.
Bangladesh Chief selector Minhajul Abedin said that the players like Mustafizur Rahman and Imrul Kayes have been dropped from the side due to poor performances in the past couple of matches.
Minhajul Abedin said that selectors have made the right decision and decided to put together a squad that will put on a straight fight in this two-match Test series. Nazmul Hossain Shanto makes his return to the side while opener Shadman Islam has been dropped from the side after playing in the previous Test series in India.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto performed exceedingly in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League. He impressed the selectors with his consistent performances across all three formats in domestic cricket. He has been rewarded and richly deserves his recall to the national side.
