Surrey has signed West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine for the coming season of Vitality T20 Blast competition. The English county club made a formal announcement on 9th March. After his long stint with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, Narine will join the county side as an overseas player.
Given his accurate spin bowling in the Power play overs and useful power hitting, Surrey will be hoping that the West Indies player can create an impact in this year’s Vitality T20 Blast competition. After signing for Surrey, Narine said that he is quite excited to play for the club for the upcoming season of Vitality T20 Blast. He further stated that he enjoyed his stint with Oval Invincibles in the Inaugural Hundred competition played last year. He said that he really enjoyed playing in front of packed stadium. Narine said that his goal was to deliver his best with the ball for Surrey in this year’s Vitality T20 Blast competition.
Surrey’s Director of Cricket, Alec Stewart said that county side is delighted to have signed West Indies spinner Sunil Narine for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast competition. Stewart said that he is quite skillful as bowler and can bat anywhere in the XI in the T20 format. Narine certainly does bring unique set of skills to the table in the T20 format.
As an accomplished player in the 20-over format, his experience of playing in different leagues around the world is commendable. He said that he is excited to see Narine play for Surrey in this upcoming Vitality T20 Blast competition.
The 33-year-old has played 394 T20Is, in which has taken 431 wickets at an average of 20.97 with twelve four-fors and one five-for to his name. It will be interesting to see how Sunil Narine performs in the forthcoming Vitality T20 Blast competition.
