Surrey sign Shadab Khan for next year’s Vitality T20 Blast competition

Surrey have signed Pakistan’s premier spinner Shadab Khan for next years’ Vitality T20 Blast competition. The county side also has shown keen in signing Australian bowling all-rounder Michael Neser for the next year’s English County Championship. Having been victories in the inaugural T20 competition, Surrey have not qualified for the finals since 2013.

The county side will be hoping that the inclusion of Shadab Khan will increase their chances of lifting the coveted prize next year. Despite not been picked for Australia series, Shadab Khan is working hard on his fitness and form this season. The 21-year old is doing all the hard work to make sure he can return as better bowler for Pakistan across the three formats.

After signing with Surrey, Shadab Khan expressed his happiness of always wanting to play in county cricket. He believes that The Kia Oval is a terrific cricket stadium to play T20 cricket. Shadab stated that he will be looking to follow the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. He said he will be focused to deliver his best for the county side and fans.

Shadab Khan has played 35 T20Is for Pakistan and claimed 46 wickets at an average of 20.06. His record in the T20 format has been exceptional and has delivered terrific performances in T20 Leagues like PSL and CPL. He also played for Brisbane Heat in the last year’s Big Bash League competition. He recently played three matches in the Caribbean Premier League for Guyana Amazon Warriors and claimed 7 wickets at an average of 10.71.

Surrey’s Director of Cricket, Alec Stewart said that Shadab Khan is one of the most talented leg-spinners in world cricket and the county side will be hoping that he can deliver the goods next year. Shadab Khan will be keen to make an impact with the bat and ball for Surrey in the next year’s T20 competition.
