Shoaib Malik signs for MSL stint with Jozi Stars
|Shoaib Malik has been signed by Jozi Stars, who are the current trophy holders of Mzansi Super League. Pakistani all-rounder will replace Chris Gayle, who will play for the Stars for the first five matches of the competition.
The 37-year old clearly expressed his happiness after being signed by Jozi Stars. He stated that he wants to enjoy the experience of playing in a high-profile T20 League being staged in South Africa. Malik further said that he will be looking to make a notable contribution to the side in this year’s competition.
Jozi Stars Head coach Donovan Miller really appreciated Shoaib Malik ability as a cricketer and believed that all-rounder will bring a lot of value to the side for the coming season. Miller said that he is pleased that Malik will be part of the squad for this year’s tournament. He stated that Malik has a splendid record as a batsman in the T20 format and has leadership skills to help Jozi Stars go the distance this season.
Shoaib Malik has a lot of experience of playing in different T20 Leagues around the world. He recently captained Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League. His bowling is also quite good and has a knack of picking up crucial wickets in the middle-overs of the innings.
Central Gauteng Lions CEO, Jono Leaf-Wright said that Shoaib Malik can any type of role in the batting department. He has played in all positions in the T20 format and will bolster the batting resources for the franchise for this season. To add to that, Shoaib Malik is fourth on the list of leading-run scorers in the T20 format. Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Kieron Pollard are other names included in the list.
The all-rounder will be determined to make an impact with the bat and ball and help Jozi Stars successfully defend their crown this year.
