Regis Chakabva named interim captain, Zimbabwe announce ODI squad for Bangladesh series
|After winning the T20I series against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe Cricket Board announced their squad for the three-match ODI series. Veteran keeper Regis Chakabva has been named captain of the limited-overs side for the Bangladesh series.
On 4th August, Zimbabwe Cricket Board confirmed that Craig Ervine has been rested for the ODI series in order for him to recover from niggles. Chakabva will be interim captain of the side for the limited-overs series against Bangladesh.
Middle-order batsman Sean Williams will miss the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh due to personal reasons. The home side have suffered a setback as the likes of Sean Williams and Craig Ervine will not be available for the ODI series.
Tarisai Musakanda and Takuhdzawanashe Kaitano are named replacements for Williams and Ervine and included in Zimbabwe’s ODI squad for the three-match series against Bangladesh. The selection committee has decided to retain that same group of players that featured in the recently concluded T20I series. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to begin from 5th August at Harare Sports Club. The remaining two matches will be played at the same venue on 7th and 9th August.
The home side will coming into this ODI series with a lot of confidence after winning the T20I series against Bangladesh. Regis Chakabva will be hoping that the side can deliver the goods with the bat and ball in this upcoming limited-overs series against Bangladesh.
It will be interesting to see how Zimbabwe fare against Bangladesh in the upcoming three-match ODI series. On the other hand, Bangladesh will be looking to make a strong comeback after suffering a shocking defeat in the T20I series.
