Indian premier spinner Ravi Ashwin is certainly on a roll as he keeps breaking records time and again. The off-spinner broke Dale Steyn’s record for most wickets in a single season in Test Cricket while playing fourth and final against Australia at Dharamsala.
Ashwin already had grabbed 78 wickets before the start of the fourth test tied with Steyn who achieved the feat way back in 2007-8 season for South Africa. He took out Australian Skipper Steven Smith to past Steyn’s tally of 78 wickets. During this season, he played 13 games for India grabbing 79 wickets which included seven five-fors against good sides like England and Australia.
Ravendra Jadeja also was not far behind as he picked up 68 wickets at a superb average of 23.48 during this period. India’s home season was a grueling one as the side played New Zealand in a three-match series followed nine games against England and Australia.
There is no stopping Ravi Ashwin is taking wickets at a rate of knots and will go as one of the most successful off-spinners of all time in Test Cricket.
