Punjab Kings sign England spinner Adil Rashid for UAE leg of Indian Premier League

England spinner Adil Rashid has been signed by Punjab Kings for the second phase of 2021 Indian Premier League. The 33-year old was the standout performer in The Hundred, has been signed as a replacement for Australian pacer Jhye Richardson, who has decided to skip the tournament due to personal reasons.

Richardson’s colleague Riley Meredith has been withdrawn from the UAE leg of the competition. Australian pacer Nathan Ellis has been signed as a replacement for Meredith. The acquisition of Nathan Ellis and Adil Rashid has been done to strengthen the bowling resources for Punjab Kings.

Earlier this summer, Adil Rashid was the standout bowler for Northern Superchargers in the inaugural The Hundred Men’s competition. In 201 T20I matches played so far, Rashid has claimed 232 wickets at an average of 22.08 with six four-fors to his name. Given his value experience of playing in different conditions, Adil Rashid will be looking to make an impact with the ball in hand for Punjab Kings.
