Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) successfully hosted final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 at Gadaffi Cricket Stadium in Lahore. The board is all set to make a big move as next year’s league finale will be played at Karachi. PCB chairman Najam Sethi confirmed the news that the final of the third edition of PSL will be played in Karachi during Player’s auction held at Lahore. It would another big achievement as PCB will host its second consecutive final in the country. Lahore also has successfully hosted international series that saw Pakistan take on World XI in a three-match T20 series.
PCB has allocated funds up to 1.5 billion rupees for the upgrading the stadium as making security arrangements for hosting the final for the coming season. National Cricket Stadium in Karachi is undergoing an overhaul process and the work is set to be completed by the end of this year. Pakistan Super League will also see approximately ten games being played in Pakistan. The six games will be played in Lahore while the rest will be staged in Karachi. Pakistan Super League is expected to be much bigger this time due to one third of the games will be played in Pakistan.
Najam Sethi spoke to media during Player’s Draft said that we are trying our best to make sure the final is a big success in Karachi. The National Logistics Cell (NLC) is given the task for renovation of National Stadium and is working with urgency is completed within due frame of time. Sethi stated that he has spoken to NLC officials and they have given assurances that the work on Stadium will be completed on time.
NLC Project Manager Mohammad Shoaib said that the institution is committed to make sure work is done on time and ready for hosting games for the coming season of Pakistan Super League.
