Opener Aiden Markram ruled out of the final game of Test series due to a wrist injury
|South Africa have suffered a setback as opening batsman Aiden Markram has been ruled out of the third and final game of the series against India. Markram suffered from a wrist injury and is set to miss the final game that is slated to begin from 19th October in Ranchi. His unavailability has made matters worse for South Africa, who have lost their premier spinner Keshav Maharaj due to injury.
Middle-order Zubayr Hamza and wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen are two reserve batsmen in the setup. The duo could be expected to play in the final game of the series. Theunis De Bruyn has not done much with the bat in the first two games of the Test series. Hamza is expected to replace De Bruyn in the playing XI for the final game of the Test series.
South Africa Team Doctor, Hashendra Ramjee said that.” After a thorough examination, it is revealed that Aiden Markram has a fracture in his wrist bones. The medical staff has therefore ruled him out of the final game of the series.”
Aiden Markram showed his frustration after his dismissal in the second innings of the second Test played at Pune. The opening batsman went into the three-match Test series on the back of two hundreds scored for South Africa A side against India A. But Markram has failed to produce big scores in the first two games of the series. He was dismissed for a pair in the second Test played at Pune, after he showed his anger by hitting a solid object which resulted in a wrist injury.
However, Aiden Markram did apologize for his behavior and also vowed not to repeat such mistakes while playing for Proteas at the international level. He said he has apologized to his team members and also to the fans who wanted him to do well on his first trip to India.
