Kent rope in Faf du Plessis for remainder of Vitality T20 Blast

Kent has signed South Africa’s Faf du Plessis for the remainder of the Vitality T20 Blast competition. Test Skipper Faf du Plessis will be available for selection for the final two round-robin games against Gloucestershire and Essex. The county side needs to win only game in order to qualify for the playoffs of the Vitality T20 Blast.

The signing of Du Plessis will bolster the batting resources for the Kent for the final phase of the competition. The side has suffered a setback of sorts as pace bowler Adam Milne will be ruled out of the competition due to ankle injury. Mohammad Nabi also left the side due to international duties for Afghanistan.

Faf du Plessis has not been included in the South Africa T20’s format against India. He was originally going to take part in Euro T20 Slam but the competition was cancelled that led Ken to acquire du Plessis services for the T20 Blast.

Du Plessis said that, “I am excited to participate in the T20 Blast and hopefully contribute for Kent in the remaining games of the competition.” He said that he will be determined to do well with the bat and hopefully help Kent lift the coveted trophy. The 35-year old also said that he has played with some of the Kent players in the past and will be keen to produce positive results on the board.

Kent Cricket Director, Paul Downton said, “We are really pleased to bring a world-class batsman like Faf du Plessis for the remaining games of the Vitality T20 Blast.”  Downton said that he is world-class player and also has been an exceptional leader for South Africa.

Faf du Plessis will certainly prove to be major asset to the county side as they look to go all the way in this year’s Vitality T20 Blast.
