Injured Kagiso Rabada ruled out of Indian Premier League 2018

Delhi Daredevils have suffered a big blow before the start of Indian Premier League 2018 as pacer Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the competition due to a back injury. Rabada, who produced excellent returns for South Africa in the four-match series against Australia experienced discomfort in his back and was sent for further examination.

It was revealed that Rabada is suffering from a low back stress reaction which means he will be out of action for at least three months. Delhi bought Rabada for the big price of Rs 4.2 crores in th 2018 Indian Premier League 2018 Auction.

Kagiso Rabada will be undergoing rehabilitation phase and is expected to back to full fitness before South Africa’s tour to Sri Lanka in June. South Africa team manager, Mohammad Moosajee revealed the news that Rabada experienced back pain in the final game of the series against Australia at Johannesburg.

South Africa team management will certainly have to manage Rabada’s workload as the side has a tough schedule for the current year as well. Rabada will need a roadmap of some sorts if he intends to play 10 to 15 years at the international level.

The 22-year old has shown excellent form in red-ball cricket and could have been a handful for Delhi in this year’s competition. He picked up 23 wickets for South Africa in the recently concluded series against South Africa. He was named man of the series for South Africa.

Kagiso Rabada has done exceedingly well as a spearhead for South Africa’s bowling attack in the absence of Dale Steyn who has not played since 2016. South Africa have managed to beat Australia for the first time at home since their readmission. Rabada was instrumental in helping South Africa turn things around in the series against Australia after losing the first game at Durban.
