Indian Opener Shikhar Dhawan becomes quickest to reach 1,000 runs in ICC Tournaments

India’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan became the highest run getter in the ICC Champions Trophy as he went former Indian batsman Sourav Ganguly during the semifinal game played against Bangladesh at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Ganguly had scored 665 runs in just 13 games with staggering average of 74 that included three hundreds to his name. On the other hand, Dhawan has done better scoring same amount of runs in just 9 game with an average of 85 runs.

Dhawan also became the quickest player to reach 1,000 runs in ICC Tournaments during the round robin game played against South Africa at The Oval. He reached the milestone in just 16 innings surpassing Little Master Sachin Tendulkar who did it in 18 innings. He became the sixth Indian batsmen in process to score over 1,000 runs in ICC events.
