India to host 2021 T20 World Cup; Australia to host 2022 T20 World Cup

Due to recent ICC schedule released, India is all set to host 2021 T20 World Cup, while Australia will host the T20 World Cup in 2022.

2020 T20 World Cup in Australia was cancelled due to growing coronavirus cases across the globe. On the other hand,  ICC Women’s T20 World Cup has gone through changes and is scheduled to be played in New Zealand in the month of February and March in 2022.  International Business Corporation, which is commercial subsidiary of International Cricket Council, held a meeting to chalk out decisions related to cricket’s showpiece events.

On July 2020, International Business Corporation announced that 2020 ICC T20 World Cup have been postponed indefinitely. The committee also managed to find windows for all three ICC World Cup tournaments to be played in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be staged in India in the month of October and November. 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be played in Australia in the month of October and November.

2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be hosted by India in the month of October and November. The finals of the competition will be played on 26th November.

The format for 2021 comeptition will remain the same as it was for 2020. A new qualification method will be created for 2022 showpiece event to be held in Australia. ICC Chief Executive, Manu Sawhney said that the committee has reached absolute consensus and clarity on the future of all ICC showpiece events. All cricketing members are trying their best to reschedule their cricketing seasons which can to a halt due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

For 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup, originally five teams have qualified for the competition. The last three sides will be determined through a qualifier competition that is set to take to be played in Sri Lanka in 2021.
