India retain top spot in ICC Test Team Rankings

India has retained their top spot in ICC Test Team Rankings with 125 points to their name. Virat Kohli’s men have stretched their lead to 13 points. The side has produced excellent results at home with 10 wins out of 13 games played in the 2016-17 season.

South Africa is placed second in the table, despite series victories over India and Australia at home. Australia is third in the points table and just to manage to overtake New Zealand before the cut-off date of 3rd April. England still is placed fifth in the table after 1-0 series defeat to New Zealand.

India will also receive one million dollars for finishing at the top in the ICC Test Team Rankings while South Africa will receive five hundred thousand dollars for the second position. Bangladesh has climbed a place in the table as they are in ninth place, just slightly ahead of West Indies.

West Indies have been not been up to the mark in Test cricket for many years now as they have also dropped five points to finish with 67 points in the latest rankings. Bangladesh has 75 points accordingly to the latest ICC Test Team Rankings.

Pakistan is lying seventh in the points table and will be keen to make an improvement as they will tour England this summer. Sarfaraz Ahmed and co. will be focused to produce a good show with the bat and ball in the two-match Test series against England.

Sri Lanka is currently placed sixth in the table due to good performances in the recent times. Zimbabwe is lying tenth in the table and have managed to play a couple of Test matches for past couple of years.

Afghanistan and Ireland are new additions as they received their full Membership status earlier this year and will play their debut Tests in the coming months. Ireland will play their debut Test against Pakistan at Malahide, Dublin from 11th May. Afghanistan will play their debut Test against India in Bengaluru on 14th June.
