Harry Gurney ruled out of 2020 Indian Premier League due to shoulder injury

Left-arm quick Harry Gurney will miss the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League due to shoulder injury. He will also miss the remaining fixtures of Vitality T20 Blast this season.

For Nottinghamshire, it is a huge setback as Gurney was the leading wicket-taker for the side in the previous edition of Vitality T20 Blast.

Last year, 33-year old bowled well and claimed 22 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 18.00 with an economy rate of 9.00. In 2019, Harry Gurney was signed by franchise Kolkata Knight Riders for the coming season. In his debut IPL match for Kolkata Knight Riders against Rajasthan Royals, Harry Gurney was the standout bowler for the side and earned match of match for his figures of 2 for 25 in 4 overs.

With 190 wickets in the history of Vitality T20 Blast, Harry Gurney will undergo a shoulder surgery in the month of September. Left-arm quick claimed eight wickets in his debut IPL season at an average of 34.00. He also was picked by Barbados Trident for this year’s Caribbean Premier League. The pacer did not participate due to personal reasons.

Last year, Harry Gurney was picked for Kolkata Knight Riders to bolster the bowling resources for the competition. With his variations, Harry Gurney would have been a handful in conditions prevalent in the United Arab Emirates.
