Glenn Maxwell named as captain of Kings XI Punjab for upcoming season of IPL 2017

Kings XI Punjab have named Glenn Maxwell as the new captain of the side for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2017.Australian middle order will replace Murali Vijay for coming season of Indian Premier League.Vijay was given the role of captaincy after the side lost five games with David Miller leading the franchise.

The move failed to produce results as Kings XI finished bottom of the table last year. Glenn Maxwell has no experience of captaincy but has been selected ahead of Darren Sammy and Eoin Morgan to lead the side for the upcoming season. The right-handed batsman had a poor run with the bat in the last two seasons scoring over 300 runs in 22 games played in eight and ninth edition of Indian Premier League.

Kings XI will also play their games in their new home venue with Holkar Stadium in Indore to set to host first three games of the season while the rest will be staged at Mohali.
