English counties has been showing keen interest in Afghanistan’s premier leg spinner Rashid Khan who has grabbed headlines this year with his impressive performances in the Indian Premier League while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rashid has produced impressive returns with the ball with 63 wickets in 29 ODIs and 42 wickets in 27 T20is for Afghanistan. The only issue for the leg spinner will have to go through extensive work visa regulations in order become eligible to play County Cricket this year.
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are making concerted efforts and have been in constant touch with British Home Office on Rashid’s issue and whether he will be able to clear all processes in due time. Afghanistan has recently gained full member status alongside Ireland after official announcement made by International Cricket Council (ICC) after a meeting held in London. Rashid Khan is an extraordinary story as he comes from country in turmoil for the last four decades but for now future looks bright for Afghanistan.
