England opener Alex Hales out of the one day series against West indies due to hand injury
|England opener Alex Hales is not included for the upcoming one day series against West indies in the Caribbean due to sustaining an injury to his hand while playing in India. The right handed batsman did sustain the injury during the course of the second game of the one day series against India at Cuttack.
The side selected for the tour to West indies consists of 14 players as no one was named as a probable replacement for Alex Hales. Sam Billings has done well in the opening slot in place of Hales while Ben Duckett found no favor after his horrid run in the subcontinent in the last few months. Stuart Broad has also been not selected for the tour despite his active participation in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes.
The chairman of selectors James Whitaker stated that the current group of players performed consistently well in the format in the last one year. Eoin Morgan have tasted success along the way capping series win in UAE against Pakistan and playing the finals of T20 World Cup 2016 in India against West indies. England will play their first game of the three match one day series at Antigua against West indies on 3rd March.
