Dwayne Bravo ruled out of the 2020 Indian Premier League with groin injury
|All-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2020 Indian Premier League due to a groin injury. The all-rounder sustained the injury during Chennai Super King’s clash with Delhi Capitals on 17th October.
Chennai Super Kings Chief Executive, Kasi Vishwanathan said that the Bravo has been sidelined due to injury and franchise will decide on whether to name a replacement for the West Indies all-rounder.
Dwayne Bravo bowled three overs in the game played against Delhi Capitals. He couldn’t complete his full quota of overs after picking up the injury in the game. Chennai Super Kings decided to use Ravendra Jadeja to bowl the final over of the innings. Left-arm spinner was struck for three sixes to see Chennai lose the game.
Chennai Super Kings have certainly endured their worst-ever campaign in the history of Indian Premier League and might not qualify for the playoff this season. Before the start of the competition, players like Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaekwad were Covid-19 positive and had to go through a quarantine period.
Experienced players like Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina pulled out of the competition which compounded problems for Chennai Super Kings before the start of Indian Premier League.
All-rounder Dwayne Bravo also missed the early part of the competition after having a knee niggle during Caribbean Premier League. In this year’s competition, Dwayne Bravo did not much with the bat. With the ball in hand, Bravo claimed six wickets in six outings at an economy rate of 8.57.
Pacer Josh Hazlewood came in place of Dwayne Bravo in the playing XI for the previous game against Rajasthan Royals. Chennai Super Kings have only registered three matches out of ten played this season. Chennai have players like Mitchell Santner, Imran Tahir and Lungi Ngidi to fill the void left by Dwayne Bravo.
