David Warner ruled out of opening day-night Test against India

Pugnacious opener David Warner has been ruled out of the opening Test of the series against India due to a groin strain. With David Warner ruled out of the Test opener at Adelaide, Australia will be looking to search for more options as Joe Burns poor form continued in the warm-up game played at Sydney Cricket Ground.

Will Pucovski suffered a concussion scare after playing in a tour game played on Tuesday and Joe Burns lean run with the bat in Shield cricket, Australia’s Head Coach Justin Langer and chief selector Trenvor Hohns will be keen to bring in Usman Khuwaja or Shaun Marsh into the Test squad for the four-match series.

Despite poor form, Joe Burns is expected to be named in the Test squad announced for the opening game of the series against India. Cricket Australia medical team is currently assessing Will Pucovski conditions after he was hit on the helmet by Indian pacers in the warm-up game.

Uncapped pacer Sean Abbott and Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson, who have earned their maiden call-ups to the Test side, will also feature for Australia A against India at Sydney Cricket Ground. Alex Carey will lead Australia A for their game against India.

Ben McDermott is set to miss the start of Big Bash League after being included in Australia A squad. Warner is certainly working hard with medical staff to get fit in time for the second Test against India.

Head Coach Justin Langer stated that David Warner would be certainly be fit and available for the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
