Cricket South Africa hands out 8-year ban to pace bowler Lonwabo Tsotobe
|Former South African fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe has been banned for eight years by Cricket South Africa (CSA) after pleading guilty of being involved in spot-fixing in 2015 T20 Ram Slam Tournament. Tsotsobe first denied all the charges issued against him but later admitted to be involved in spot-fixing saga that has seen Gulam Bodi, Thami Tsolekile and Alviro Peterson handed out severe punishments. Chief Executive of Cricket South Africa (CSA) Haroon Lorgat said that the board is following a zero-tolerance policy with regards to any form of match-fixing.
Tsotsobe issued a public apology and stated that his financial conditions led him to commit in the spot-fixing scandal in order to easy money in process. He admitted to his charge of being involved in the process of match fixing but also was charged on the account of not giving timely information to the cricket board.
