Chris Gayle becomes the quickest to score 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League
|West Indies’ Chris Gayle has added another record to his name by becoming the quickest to score 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Left-handed batsman achieved during Kings XI Punjab opening game against Rajasthan Royals.
The swashbuckling opening batsman added another record to his name when he became the quickest to reach 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League. He certainly completed the landmark in 112th innings breaking Australia’s David Warner, who took 114 innings to complete 4,000 runs.
Kings XI Punjab clearly signed as a last-minute option during the IPL auction event 2018.
West Indies opener remained unsold in the initial rounds but was signed by Kings XI for a decent prize of Rs 2 crore. Punjab’s management decision proved to be right as Gayle scored runs for the franchise at the top of the innings last season.
Chris Gayle still holds the record for most centuries scored by a batsman in the Indian Premier League. He has scored six centuries in the competition, which is still a record till date.
To add to that, he holds record for the highest individual score in the competition. Chris Gayle scored 175 runs against Pune Warriors in the game played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 2013 Indian Premier League. Overall, Gayle has smashed 21 centuries in the T20I cricket.
Chris Gayle has certainly discovered his mojo with the bat and scored heavily so far this year. He made return to the West Indies one-day side in an emphatic manner and finished as the leading run-scorer in the one-day series played against England. In his final one-day series played at home, Gayle scored 424 runs with two centuries to his name.
Kings XI Punjab will be hoping that opener Chris Gayle score heavily at the top of the innings and help them lift their maiden crown in this year’s Indian Premier League.
