Bangladesh have their named 15-man squad for the upcoming two-match T20 series against Bangladesh. The hosts have included a lot of youngsters who did well at the domestic level. Afif Hossain, Abu Jayed, Arif Haque, Zakir Hasan and Mahedi Hasan are five uncapped players named in the Bangladesh squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka.
Abu Jayed and Ariful Haque are pace options for the side while Mahedi Hasan and Afif Hossain are spin options included in the Bangladesh T20 squad. Pace bowler Abu Jayed also performed well in the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League as he picked 10 wickets in the competition.
Wicket-keeper batsman Zakir Hasan played well for his franchise in this year’s Bangladesh Premier League while Ariful Haque did reasonably well in the competition.
Pace bowler Abu Hider makes a return to the T20 squad after a period of two years as Bangladesh has made wholesale changes to their squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka. Mahmudullah has been impressive in the format for the side but Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan are proven match winners in the T20 format.
Iqbal did not feature in the T20I series played in South Africa due to injury. Mustafizur Rahman also makes a return to the side after fully recovering from injury. Big names like Nasir Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Imrul Kayes have been dropped while Shafiul Islam, Mehdi Hasan, and Mominul Haque could not get the nod of the selectors for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. The hosts will be keen to make a strong comeback in the T20 series after losing the Test series against Sri Lanka.
