2020 Indian Premier League is set to begin from 19th September in the UAE
|The cancellation of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has opened a possibility of hosting Indian Premier League this year.
2020 Indian Premier League is slated to be played in the United Arab Emirates from 19th September. IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel said that window has been finalized and the tournament is going to held as per schedule.
Earlier, BCCI made their final decision to host the Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates. Due to rising coronavirus cases across India, the authorities had to find possible locations for hosting the cash-rich league.
Emirates Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket Board made their offers to BCCI for hosting the Indian Premier League. They also stated that they have all requirements of ensuring a bio-secure environment. With ICC Men’s T20 World Cup postponed, it certainly opened a big chance of hosting the Indian Premier League.
The schedule and fixtures for 2020 Indian Premier League have not been finalized and will be formulated by IPL Governing Council in the coming weeks.
Earlier, Indian Premier League scheduled to be played in the month of April and May but due to coronavirus Pandemic all cricketing events came to a grinding halt. Since February, there has been no cricket due to rising Coronavirus cases across the globe.
Cricket playing nations like England, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India have been badly affected the covid-19 Pandemic. Indian Premier League is the most followed and watched T20 League in the world. Had the T20 League not been staged this year, BCCI would have incurred heavy losses as it involves a lot of stakeholders.
Due to escalating tensions between China and India, VIVO pulled out as main sponsors for the Indian Premier League. Despite all hurdles, Indian Premier League will be certainly going to be played in the United Arab Emirates.
